Resources

Preparation is the key to a smooth move!

Here are some resources to help get your business moved without missing a beat in the office.

Labeling

Label all items belonging to you. Mark these labels with specific destinations and room numbers. Placement of your office items at destination is done by number, not name. Items that are not labeled will not be moved unless otherwise instructed.

Packing Instructions

Desks will be upended, so all contents should be packed into contents. Oversized items not fitting into a carton should be labeled and we will take those separately. Credenzas should also be emptied and packed up. Be sure to label all desk extensions and returns.

Filing Cabinets

Upright or vertical filing cabinets may be moved full. If possible, they should be locked. Empty and lock (if possible) all lateral filing cabinets with more than two drawers. (Please note: If an elevator is not available, the drawers of all filing cabinets must be emptied and packed.)

Storage Cabinets

Empty all contents and pack into cartons.

Copy Machines

The manufacturer or service contract agent should service copy machines before moving. Failure to do so may void your machine service contract or warranty. Generally, the servicing company or Work-A-Haulix will then move your machines after they are serviced (depending on your agreement).

Typewriters, Calculators, CRTs, Small Computers

Disconnect each piece of equipment and pack all cords and covers. Label each piece of equipment. We will wrap each of these items and move them in mobile carts. Place the labels on ends where indicated. Do not place labels on the top. Try and pack cartons full but not overflowing.

Steel Shelving

Assembled units must be cleared of all supplies and stock before moving.

Personal Property

Your employer or Work-A-Haulix cannot be held liable for your personal possessions (for example: photos, plants, knick-knacks, coffee mugs, radios, etc.). For your own protection, we suggest you move personal belongings on your own.

Miscellaneous

Chairs, floor mats, wastebaskets, wallboards, and other items in the office should be labeled. Don’t worry about packing these items—we’ll take care of it, but please be sure to empty trash cans before moving.

Furniture assembled using particleboard (for example, bookcases, computer desks, typewriter stands, etc.) will not be the responsibility of Work-A-Haulix unless the damage is associated with carelessness. This is due to the method of construction and fragile nature of the materials for these items.
